Primary angle closure disease management and treatment options

Description: This session will focus on Primary Angle Closure Glaucoma (PAC), the natural disease history, diagnosis, referral criteria and treating chronic and acute cases. 
Recent guidelines and referrals will be covered.
The session will be aimed at IP optometrists and cover different clinical cases and their management.

Target audience: Optometrist, Specialty optometrist (AS/SP/IP)

s.5 Keep your skills and knowledge up to date

  • Understands PAC disease, its investigation, treatment and current referral guidelines.

s.7 Conduct appropriate assessments, examinations, treatments and referrals 

  • Able to assess and refer appropriately patients presenting with symptoms of PAC

Specialty CPD - AS/SP/IP optometrist

  • Understands PAC disease and its management, including disease progression, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic disease.
  • Understands when to seek advice of Ophthalmologists, in patients with PAC.

Deepti Raina BSc MCOptom DipTp(IP) Higher Cert Glauc

Deepti works in glaucoma clinics at UHB and has been part of the team there since 2016.

She is also currently in the process of completing Glaucoma part three ( Diploma) at UCL/Moorfields, London.

She has an interest in this branch of glaucoma and hopes to get involved in future audit and research which will help improve the referral refinement scheme for PACD.
