Description

This session gives an overview of causes of epiphora and tips on lacrimal syringing. The session has a short presentation followed by videos and demonstrations of lacrimal syringing and discussions on patient cases. There will be small discussion groups to look at communication and consent with patients whilst carrying out the procedure.

  • Able to assess and examine a patient with epiphora, conducting a structured exam and able to make an appropriate management plan or referral.

  • Able to explain the nature of lacrimal syringing, the benefits and potential risks and so gain appropriate patient consent.

Speaker

Dr Ziyaad Sultan

Dr Sultan, studied pharmacology before reading medicine as a post-graduate on an accelerated programme at Barts and The London. He completed his ophthalmology training, and went on to undertaken 3 fellowships in oculoplastics, lacrimal and orbital surgery. He is highly experienced and based in Liverpool, and performs regular lacrimal surgery - including dacryocystorhinostomy and lid malposition surgery.
