About the webinar

In this one-hour webinar, funded by Docet and managed by The College of Optometrists, Dr Rosalind Creer, a lead optometrist at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital with a specialist interest in medical retina and diabetic eye disease, will speak about the signs and symptoms of diabetic retinopathy. Dr Creer will give an overview of the diabetic eye-screening programme, including recent changes, and describe the referral pathways, treatments and indicators for treatment.

The focus of this talk will be on the importance of systemic risk factors and the impact of these on the progression of diabetic retinopathy, along with the potential for the primary care optometrist to start discussions with the patient about this. Case studies will further illustrate the content of this webinar.

  • Able to explain any potential treatments to patients in relation to their diabetic eye disease.
Excellent content; provided a lot of useful information to consider when testing a dementia patient, especially ocular and visual signs and symptoms. Very relevant in an increasingly aging population.
