MICRONEEDLE EYE PATCH TO TREAT AMD

Scientists have developed an eye patch that uses detachable, biodegradable microneedles to deliver ocular drugs. 

Tests on mice with induced corneal neovascularisation showed that a single application of the patch was 90 per cent more effective in alleviating the condition than applying a single eye drop with 10 times more drug content.
