The College welcomes new students onto their optometry journey

Undergraduate optometry students are starting master's degrees with an integrated work-based placement known as CLiP.

All over the UK, undergraduate students have begun their optometry degrees, many of whom have started new MOptom master's courses.

To welcome these new students to the profession, the College ran introduction talks to 14 out of 15 UK universities and met with over 1000 excited new students.

We had great engagement with the students, the delivery was excellent and goodies were appreciated!

College staff and Council members travelled up and down the country delivering talks to new students during September and October, as well as representing the College at student fairs.

President Gillian Ruddock; Council members Stephen Freeman, Steven Clark, Kathryn Saunders, Katie Curran, Chris Froment, Matt Roney, Nkosi Yearwood; Clinical Advisors Denise Voon and Daniel Hardiman-McCartney were all involved in running the sessions.

The College also invited several of its enthusiastic Student Reps to support the sessions, many of whom spoke passionately about their experiences as students, their role at the College and the support provided by the College during their studies.

Students receive their membership for free during their time at university, and benefit from College events, access to CPD, the library, the app and much more.

We express our warm welcome to all the new students starting their optometry degrees this Autumn!
