Optometrist, Cardiff University, Cardiff
About the role
You may remember your time in university, and the impact that your tutors made on your technique. Perhaps you have wondered whether you would like to impart some of your wisdom and advice to tomorrow’s optometrists? Perhaps you would like to contribute to shaping tomorrow’s optometrists and prepare them for a life in practice? Under the guidance of mentors within the School, we are offering the opportunity to do just this, in a variety of clinical settings.
The role of the Clinical Tutor is varied and includes opportunities to teach in small groups, provide 1:1 support, advance students’ clinical competencies, provide occasional informal pastoral support to final year students, and enhance your own knowledge by being part of a team of supervisors; all of whom have areas of expertise and interest of their own. In the role, you become an integral and vital part of the Undergraduate teaching programme in the School and will support and contribute to the School’s outstanding record of graduate quality. While we initially offer a 12 month fixed-term contract, this can be extended after the year is through should the applicant wish to remain with us.
