New training and support for workplace supervisors

We have developed new training materials to provide better support for new supervisors on the Scheme for Registration and to prepare for the changes coming with CLiP.

We are introducing training pathways for Additional as well as Principal Supervisors. The courses, when published in full, will still attract CPD points for those registered with the GOC and we will supplement the initial training with additional support modules and peer review sessions.

The courses will be available as e-learning modules which are made up of several shorter ‘micromodules’. These are between three and ten minutes long so you can fit them in around your day-to-day duties. This lessens the burden of learning and gives you more control.

We will be publishing pilot versions of these courses for review in spring and early summer this year and we will release CLiP versions in 2025.

We are making four of these micromodules available for you now to review and comment on. These are core micromodules for both the Additional and Principal Supervisor training pathways. They are:

  • Stage One Visits (in the Scheme for Registration)
  • Maintaining Clinical Responsibility for Patients
  • Giving High-Quality Feedback
  • Common Learner Challenges.
