We are recruiting IP qualified optometrists and ophthalmologists to join the Independent Prescribing Assessment Panel. The Panel set the standard for and oversee the performance of the Therapeutics Common Final Assessment in Independent Prescribing and the individual question items.
Role requirements
Applicants may be experienced academics, IP optometrists and ophthalmologists with previous panel experience.
You must:
- be a practising IP optometrist/ophthalmologist familiar with optometric education
- be registered with the GOC/GMC
- have an understanding of clinical assessment
- have experience of sitting on assessment boards or similar
- have experience of analysing candidate performance
Training and support will be provided by The College of Optometrists.
Expected commitment
The Independent Prescribing Assessment Panel will meet after every sitting of the examination, currently three times a year. At least six weeks’ notice will be given of panel meetings.
Panel members are appointed for three years and then may be extended for a further three years.
The Panel normally runs from 10:00 to 16:00 with a lunch break. Meetings are normally held remotely unless stated otherwise. No preparation for the meetings is required.
